Mellow Yellow Monday #3....Our Bedroom Wall Paint

MellowYellowBadge

It's now my third time to participate the mellow yellow monday and my entry is our bedroom wall paint. Since I first moved in in my husband's house the bedroom paint is already yellow. I know there are various shades of yellow but I can't remember the exact name of this paint. Our room is small but we do like it because it is not crowded and the paint makes the room lively. We only have  our twin size bed, two dresser, two side table and Bones' bed. The wall next to Bones' bed always gets dirty because he rubbed his body against it. So, periodically me and hubby cleaned that area with a wet soft rug and rub it gently making sure that we will not damage the paint. We did not use harsh chemicals instead we just used water. If the dirt is new it is very easy to clean that's why we will make sure that we clean it after Bones' dirtied the wall.

You may be wondering why there are four toy fishes and a dog on top of our bed. Well, that's mine. Hubby does not like it that much but I do insist to put these toys on top of our bed. I may be turning 30 next year but I still  have a child attitude in me (lol). I try to collect nemo, the famous lead character in a movie, Finding Nemo. So far, I do have 3 nemos at the moment but I will collect some more if I do see them in a garage sale. I got the two Nemos from a garage sale and the other one I believe was a gift to me from my husband during my birthday two years ago.

If you want to check out some of my Mellow Yellow entry. Check it here folks!

Shark Steam Mop

I am one of those people who watch infomercials on tv on an occasional basis. I got interested in trying the Shark Steam Mop because I get tired of scrubbing and cleaning our floor, especially the kitchen. This steam mop really caught my attention because according to the infomercial all you have to do is put water in the tank, wait for a few seconds and you're ready to go. The mop is not cheap but since I only have to use water, then in the long run I will save money compared to purchasing various cleaning products. It claims also to clean and sanitize your floor. Yes, it cleans the floor fast but only when the dirt is new and I agree that it sanitizes the floor too.

One thing that I don't agree with when they said during the infomercial that it is safe on your hardwood floor. At first I was doubtful to use it on our hardwood floor because it might ruin it when the water does not dry quickly. Although I had my doubts I still purchased the mop. So what I did is to try it first on our kitchen floor which is made of ceramic tiles to make sure that it will not leave any water on the floor. Honestly, there were some areas on our kitchen floor that were not totally dry. I needed to wait several minutes before it completely dried up.

Also, before you use the steam mop you have to sweep the area you want to clean. You also need to scrub the grout between the tiles because the steam mop is not able to clean the grout effectively. If your tiles are not glazed with a shiny, smooth finish you need to mop back and forth several times before you can get rid of the dirt especially the dirt that has been there for a long period of time.

It is surely not the best steam mop based on my experience. If I were to give it a rating from one to ten, I would give it a five. The handle is not that sturdy and you have to replace the mop micro-fiber cleaning cloth periodically and this can get expensive. A box that contains two microfiber cloths cost me $19.99.

I am not really crazy about this steam mop but I am not the kind of person that returns things that I  purchase after using it. So I did not return the mop. (I feel I should be responsible for my decision to purchase and keep an item unless it's broken when I open the box or it has missing parts. If this occurs I will just exchange it.)

Well folks, there are a lot of infomercials on tv now. Some products work effectively and some don't. If it's too good to be true you should research the product before you make the investment.

Mellow Yellow Monday #2 (Koi)

MellowYellowBadge

It's another Mellow Yellow Monday folks. For my entry I will share with you my brother-in-law's pet, Koi fishes. Right now, these fishes are more than a foot long. As far as I can remember, he had it more than two years ago.

Koi are ornamental domesticated varieties of the common carp that are kept for decorative purposes in outdoor ponds and water gardens. They are also called Japanese carp and were developed from common carp in Japan in the 1820's. They mostly come in variety of colors which include yellow, black, cream, white, red and blue. These fishes are said to be a symbol of love and friendship. They are adorable, colorful and will surely adds beauty to your backyard.

My BIL put a string that is a foot above the ground to protect the Koi from the birds who eats them. In fact he also installed an automatic sprinkler to drive away the birds. So whenever the birds or anything comes closer to the pond the automatic sprinkler will come on. There were instances that the birds were able to eat several baby koi, leaving behind their bones and blood on the ground. By the way, these birds are not just an ordinary bird. They are said to be more than two feet high and unfortunately I can't remember the name.

For example, you can get information from their website regarding Head Gasket Replacement. The head gasket is a very important part and vulnerable area of your car. It is situated between the engine's cylinder head and block in an internal combustion engine. This gasket plays a vital role because it seals the cylinders to ensure a maximum compression and avoids leakage in the internal engine water and oil passages. Once there is a failure in your cooling system because of a damaged head gasket it will cause overheating to your car. This is explained very clearly at RepairPal's Auto Repair Encyclopedia.
