Artichoke Plants
We have an artichoke plants since more than two years ago. After we harvested all the artichokes, I cut the artichoke plants at the base. After few weeks, another artichoke plants will start to sprout again from the ground next to the base of the plant where I cut it. This year is a very good year for our artichoke plants. We harvested many artichokes and usually steamed it and dip it with Smart Balance light Mayonnaise dressing.
Artichoke also known as Globe Artichoke is a perennial thistle originating in Southern Europe. It grows to 1.5 to 2 meters tall, with arching, deeply lobed, silvery glaucous-green leaves 50-82 cm long. The flowers develop in a large head from an edible bud with numerous triangular scales. The edible portion of the buds consists primarily of the fleshy lower portions and the base known as the heart. (source...wikipedia)
