Today is another Mellow Yellow Monday. My entry is about the new landmark in our city, The Different Statues of Fruits. These photos were taken last May 2009 when I visited my family for the third times in Gingoog City, Philippines. This landmark is situated in Gingoog's old market and is adjacent to the Sta. Rita Parish Church.

Coconut

Hope you enjoy looking at the photos. Don't mind the model (lol). She is trying hard. For my other mellow yellow entries, click it here.

Hard to Quit Smoking? Try E-Cigarette

There are many people around the globe that are addicted to smoking. I don't like being around with people who smoke and even to inhale the smell from the cigarettes. My brother and father are addicted to smoking and I always emphasized to them that if they can't resist nor stop not to smoke they should do it outside our house. I don't want our house to feel and smell like a smoke house. Also, the big reason is that, smoking is dangerous to their health and also to people around them.

My father and brother tried many times to quit smoking. They both stopped for quite sometimes but now they are back to their vices. Since it's hard for me to ask them to quit because they really doesn't want to, I should ask them to try Electronic Cigarette Free Trial. They have nothing to lose. Instead it will be one way of letting and helping them quit smoking or even at least lessen the intake of nicotine in their body. This electronic cigarette taste and feels like real cigarette. It comes with batteries, an atomizer and the liquid nicotine cartridges. It has no smell, no tar and if you are desperately wants to quit smoking and yet you know that it's gonna be harder for you to do it during your first time, you can cut back the intake of the nicotine simply by using the electric cigarettes. The liquid nicotine cartridges comes in different strength allowing you to adjust the amount of nicotine in each electronic cigarette that you want to use. Meaning, you can slowly put a lesser amount of nicotine when you smoke allowing you to be less and less addicted to smoking.

This electric cigarette is also called a smokeless cigarette. Even it is called smokeless, but this still produces "smoke" in the form of a fine, mist-like vapor which is produced by the nicotine located in a cartridge within the device. Although I don't smoke but I feel like buying two of these for my brother and father.

Folks, if you're addicted to smoking and wanted to quit or you're looking for an alternative to smoking, try this electronic cigarette. You have nothing to lose except something to gain. For more information about this e-cigarette, you can visit the top site for electronic cigarette information online, Electronic Cigarette Source. Start the new year right, be a new you!

Tiger Buddies Award

My friend, David of Basic Bloganomics gave me this award few days ago. It really such an honor to be in D's list because he has a lot of friends here in blogland and being mention as of the receivers of this award made me feel special. As you may know, D is very creative when it comes to writing and posting articles for his blog. There were instances that he used  his friends' blog titles nor names or nicknames and combine them together to come up with a very unique and amazingly interesting article. Although it is fictional, but I am pretty sure everybody likes it.

If you don't know David yet, you can leave a  message in his cbox and I am sure he will respond maybe not immediately but as soon as he has the time to do it so.

So, now it's my time to pass this award to Rebecca, Demcy, Lulu, Rossel, Imelda, Tejan and Cza-Cza. Guys, if you already received this award and posted it already, you don't have to re post it, ok? To those whom I haven't mention here and yet wants to grab this award, you are free to grab and share it to all your friends.

      Have a great day everyone!

Gas Range

I've tried many times to clean the inside part of our gas range but it seems like the grease from all the foods that we've been cooking already accumulated and just stick onto the sidings of the oven. I used warm water , soap and a sponge to clean the oven but it did not work at all. Hubby did not want me to use any abrasive materials when cleaning because it will damage our oven.  According to my spouse he also tried to clean the oven even before I first came here more than three years ago but it he is not satisfied with the outcome. He misplaced the instruction manual and he did extend any effort to research online to see if he will find information with regards to how to clean our oven.

We owned a Frigidaire Gallery Professional Series Gas Range. It is really a good range and we've been using it for more than 10 years. Just almost two weeks ago when we put away all our christmas decorations, hubby accidentally found the instruction manual for our gas range in our garage. He was happy about it because we will be able to look up the possible way to clean our range. We know already that it has a self-cleaning oven feature but the question is how to do it? Since we already had the manual, we just followed the step by step instruction and we were very much happy and satisfied with the result.

To start the Self-Clean Cycle, it is being recommended a 2 hour self-clean cycle for light soils, a 3 hour cycle for average soils and a 4 hour cycle for heavy soils. We prefer TO SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE SELF-CLEANING CYCLE TO START IMMEDIATELY AND SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY.

Note:   Remove the broiler pan and insert, utensils and any aluminum foil before starting to self-clean your oven. These items cannot withstand high cleaning temperature: Also, do not hand clean or use any cleaning materials on your oven door gasket. Doing so could cause damage.

Here's How:

1.  Set the clock in your range with the correct time of the day.
2.  Push the Clean Button and the "CLN TIME" will appear in the display.
3.  Push and hold the UP or DOWN ARROW button until "3 HR:00" appears in the display. You should set the cleaning time based on the amount of soil/dirt you have....Light, Medium or Heavy (see above).
4.  As soon as the controls are set, the motor driven lock will begin to close automatically (your oven door lock) and the "LOCKED" indicator light will be displayed. (It will take about 15 seconds for the lock to close).
5.  The "Clean" light will come on and the cleaning process starts.

REMEMBER:  If there's a heavy smoke coming our from your oven, you can cancel the self-cleaning process by pressing the cancel button. Do not open your oven door immediately. Wait until the word "LOCKED" is no longer in the display and the oven has cooled down for at least one hour before trying to open the oven door. If this happen(smoke), try to clean all possible food particles or spillover inside your oven. If its already clean just repeat the process above.

Also, it is best to read and understand the company's instruction manual for our gas range and any other appliances we have at home. We should know the pros and cons before deciding to clean our range so that we will not damage it.  Always have your manual ready if you are confuse of something. Besides there are a lot of information you can gather in the internet that are very helpful if you have some doubts.

Self-Cleaning Oven is easy. Just press some buttons and you are ready to go! Beware the oven is Hot!

Laundry Time!

I've been used to hand wash our clothes since I was six. It was really an exhausting chores and it always ate up my time way back when I was studying until I was working in the pawnshop more than three years ago. I never had any decent days off during at that time because I had to wash our clothes since my sister that is younger than me cannot handle to wash it for hours because she will then experience nose bleeding. So, I don't have a choice but to use my only day off at work to wash our clothes.

But everything changes when I came here in the US. We used washing machine in washing our clothes. I never heard anyone hand washing their clothes except my Filipina friends. But sometimes,  you will miss the things that you used to do even if you did not like it. There were many instances that I hand washed  some of my clothes because I just want to. My hubby always told me to use our washing machine but I just ignored him and keep on doing what I wanted to do.

To those who haven't experienced hand washing their clothes (all the clothes of the family members) would think that it is ridiculous doing it so. But poor people especially in poor countries, like where I came from have done it almost everyday. It is not really a fun chores instead it is very exhausting and will ruin your hands. It will make it rough and most of the time the detergent soap you're using is very harsh to the skin.  In fact there were many occasions wherein after I finished hand washing our clothes for almost a day I noticed several small wounds all over my hands. Not only that, my back hurts because of sitting down for hours. Well, those were the days that I love to reminisce quite often.
--------------------
Recently:    Look where I hang my clothes after I hand washed it?

In our gazebo. I am glad hubby did not oppose it even though it ruined the beauty of our backyard.

Cleaning and Organizing Our Bathroom Drawers

Maybe you are thinking upon seeing this photo that I am selling beauty products. Sorry folks but these are just few of the things that I have in our bathroom closet that needs to be thrown away because either the bottle is almost empty, I don't necessarily need the packages or else it was a part of my experiment and it did not work for me.

Last christmas hubby gave me as a gift, an under-the-sink medium size drawer so that I can organize all the clutters I have in our bathroom drawers. Honestly, I am not that neat of a person. I am the exact opposite of my hubby and I am thankful that he is cautious about our house cleanliness because if we're both on the same pace, our house will surely be a place where rodents thrive (lol). I am not really that bad. When I clean, it is super clean. It just that when I started having a permanent job I become indolent when it comes to household chores. I always feel exhausted (not with blogging though...lol)

Well, so much for that.....Before organizing everything,  I need to throw some things that I don't need anymore because it really occupies most space in our drawers. I am kind of a person that loves to keep things even though I don't need it hoping that someday and somehow I will need it. But it really is annoying sometimes especially when I am in a hurry and I am looking for a particular thing and I can't find it because there are so much junk on our drawers.  Since hubby noticed all the clutters I have. He decided to buy me a drawer so that I am force to clean it. He even built an additional drawer underneath our bathroom sink so that I have an extra room for my stuffs. It is still a little bit crowded but not as what it was.

This is really a lesson for me and even to some people to organize the things they have on their drawers and throw unnecessary stuffs in order for us to easily find the things that we are looking for. I am working on my bad habit of storing unwanted items. Instead I should throw it immediately or the best thing is don't buy it at all. Hope I can do it.

Christmas Decorations At Work

Last December 18 was our christmas party at work. I am working for the night shift at that time and so I have to bring my gift for our exchanging gifts before lunch time. As far as I can remember I went to work to drop off my gift at around ten in the morning. I was really surprise upon seeing different glass jars and containers with different varieties of candies of green and red in colors. It was fantastic, pretty and adorable. I haven't realize until then that with a little effort and money you can decorate a certain occasion by just using the stuffs you have at home that you haven't use or something that you have used occasionally.

I forgot to bring my camera when I went in the morning to drop off my gift and when I went back to work in the afternoon these were all the left-over of the candies. Sorry folks but most of the candies were gone because it was being divided to all the employees who has their own respective stocking with their name on it.

Here are all the stockings we have at work. The biggest one is for our store manager. It was really amazing how our Customer Service Manager came up with all the christmas decoration we have at work. I will give her a thumbs-up.

Note: If you want to use the same idea my manager have for a certain occasion, just replace the candies with the color that you want that matches the occasion.
